Security cam

Post by Jessedoesitall » Sat Nov 09, 2019 9:16 am

Is there a way to use the front camera input and replace it with a dash cam to record? Or a security cam to start recording if the alarm is set off?

Not really.. but anything is possible. Let's elaborate a bit.

Insane Audio's RockCam circuit uses a video bypass circuit. What this means is that the camera is directly displayed on the screen. While it may appear as if it is being controlled by an app, the image itself is directly going to your screen without any other hardware or software processing. The reason for this, is that one of our key design specifications is to have ZERO latency. Meaning, there can't be even a split second delay when Rover jumps out behind your Jeep while you are backing up. We like Rover. He's a good dog.

So.. The RockCam app can record, but only when the app is open and in focus.

All that being said, there are all kinds of dash cams available on the market... some are controlled via Bluetooth and may work great with our products. Some hide behind your rearview mirror. Some are integrated in it. We haven't really experimented with these, but suspect that there are more then a couple options out there that would work great with our produts. It is worth noting that almost all of these products will have some level of latency, but for purposes of a dashcam this may be OK and most folks may not even notice.
