Believe it or not this isn’t a post from our support team telling you to RTFM for your Insane Audio head unit, it’s a writeup showing you how you can get TFM for your vehicle, in your dash, in digital format, just in case you ever want or need to read it. Why would you ever want to RTFM on your head unit vs. a physical hard copy you may ask? Well, first and foremost, it’s searchable. That’s right instead of digging your way through TFM with fingers holding place on 5 different pages, you can simply type into a search field exactly what you are looking for. This way you don’t have to RT whole FM to find your answers.
While it may be a bit crude for those uptight folks, we know Insane Audio users have a good sense of humor and it’s good advice, really: RTFM. Read The F#$%ing Manual and you might be amazed with what you learn. Have a question? Chances are, the answer is in TFM, or at least information that will help point you in the right direction. At the very least, if you RTFM and don’t find your answer, you can be confident when you reach out to someone else for help that you’re not asking a question you could have easily answered yourself. But I’m preaching to the choir because I’m sure everyone on this forum has already RTFM, for their vehicle, their head unit, their winch, and even the 109 page Insane NavEngine user manual (https://insaneaudio.com/wp-content/uplo ... Next, you can free up some room in your glovebox. I personally think it’s still a good idea to keep that hardcopy of TFM somewhere in your vehicle, but if you have a digital copy on your head unit, maybe you could toss TFM in the back and free up that prime real estate you have for something more appropriate and regularly used, like a pair of gloves, or some snacks. Another reason it might be nice to get TFM in digital format on your head unit is that you no longer possess or know the location of the hard copy of TFM for your vehicle. In this case, you are really going to want to follow the instructions below, your life may one day depend on it.
The first step is to find the user manual for your vehicle in digital format. Most auto manufactures make these available on their respective websites in PDF format. Here are a few links to get you started in your search for TFM for your specific vehicle:

You’ll need to enter some information about your vehicle, so you can be directed to the correct manual. Some sites allow you to enter your vehicle’s VIN if you’re not sure about some of the vehicle specifics, such as trim level.
Once you have a PDF of TFM for your vehicle downloaded to your computer, you will want to load it onto an SD card or USB drive to transfer it to your head unit. Insert the SD card or USB drive with TFM PDF into your unit, then open the “File Browser” app. Find TFM file and check the box to the right of the file name, then tap the “Copy” icon at the bottom of the screen.
Next tap “Flash” on the left side of the screen and then tap the folder where you want to keep TFM or create a new folder by tapping the three dots menu in the status bar on the upper right (you may need to swipe down from the top of the screen to reveal the status bar) Tap to open the folder and then tap the “Paste” icon in the bottom toolbar to paste TFM file onto your unit’s flash memory.
Now TFM is in your vehicle, just tap the file name to open it in Adobe Acrobat (Adobe Acrobat comes preloaded on all Insane Audio units, but if you’ve deleted it you will need to download it from the Google Play Store, don’t worry, it’s free.)
Finally, if you want to create a shortcut to TFM on your home screen you will need to download “ES File Explorer” After you’ve downloaded the app, open it and find the user manual file you just copied to the unit. Tap and hold on the file to bring up a toolbar at the bottom of the screen. Tap “More” and then “Add to desktop.”
To summarize, download TFM, transfer TFM, READ TFM!
